Description: The origin of this data set is NIWA's River Environment Classification data set. This data set has been adjusted to fit Horizons' Water Management Sub-zones, which form the underpinning geographical units to support the policy framework for surface water allocation, surface water quality and activities in the beds of rivers and lakes as outlined in the One Plan (see http://www.horizons.govt.nz/about-us/one-plan/one-plan-operative-version/).This Horizons' Water Management Sub-zones data set has been adjusted(field and geometry changes*) to show groundwater and water management zones of the Manawatu-Wanganui region simplied for the LAWA (Land, Air, Water Aotearoa) website (http://www.lawa.org.nz/). * Fields of the Water Management Sub-zones data set were deleted and new fields, such as WaterManagementZoneID, AllocationLimit, AllocationUnit, ManagmentZoneTS, ZoneType, ParentZone, were added to this data set. Geometry changes, such as re-projection, simplifying of Water Management Sub-zones polygons, union of Water Management Sub-zones polygons, merging of Water Management Sub-zones polygons, exploding and removing ofsliver polygons, were made to display the zone more simplified for website purposes.
